Best of MTL

Best of MTL is a sure sign of spring in Montreal — maybe we can defrost this town with some collective positivity. Vote for your favourite everything in our annual readers poll, right here.

ASSÉ, the student association you may remember from 2012 is holding a demo today, and while it may not be as massive as their red-square rallies, it’s worth knowing about, whether or not you want to attend. Place Emilie Gamelin, 2 p.m.

The Goethe Institut’s Achtung Film! series presents Gold, which tells the tale of heading into hostile climes in the northern B.C. interior during the late 19th century Gold Rush. Cinéma Excentris (3536 St-Laurent), 7 p.m., $12

At the Bright Nights: Nordic-Baltic Film Festival you can check out My Stuff, a Finnish film about a man who puts all his possessions in storage, then allows himself to retrieve only one item per day. Cinémathèque québécoise (335 de Maisonneuve E.), 8:30 p.m., $8

Italian indie rockers Joycut (see a video for a very cool song by them here) play Divan Orange with Diamond Bones and l’Indice. 4234 St-Laurent, 8:30 p.m., $10 in advance/$12 at the door

This week’s edition of Melt at Blizzarts has resident DJs Pomo, Birthday Boy, Nick Wisdom and Cozy dropping fresh beats. 3956 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., free
