Catch an early set or a late set by Halifax folk-jazz man David Myles at Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill. 1254 Mackay, 7 p.m. or 10 p.m., $18.50

Catch some olde-timey vaudeville theatre at the Voix-de-Ville Variety show, hosted by Paul Ash and featuring music guest Sumersett Fred. Wiggle Room (3874 St-Laurent), 8 p.m., $10

It’s opening night for Blackbird, David Harrower’s dark, intensely emotional play about two people who meet again 15 years after having an affair. Espace 4001 (4001 Berri), 8 p.m., $15–$20

Local duo AroarA (Ariel Engle and Andrew Whiteman) launch their debut album In the Pines, featuring their rich and ballsy musical renditions of Alice Notley poems — read about this project in our interview with AroarA here.
