Diamond Bones

So longboard hockey is apparently a thing, and a tournament — the Brodesser Cup — is happening at Parc Ignace-Bourget. 5925 Montmagny, 12 p.m.

Want to do Pop Montreal for free? Quality bands are lined up at both the park in Little Italy (Pat Jordache, Orkestar Kriminal etc) and Divan Orange (Syngja, Jessy Lanza etc). St-Laurent and St-Zotique, 12–6 p.m., 4234 St-Laurent, 1:30–6:30 p.m.

At Film Pop today you can check out Persistence of Vision, the tragic tale of the greatest animated film never made. PHI Centre (407 St-Pierre), 4:30 p.m., $8

Local dreampop band Diamond Bones (who fared very well in our Best of MTL readers poll) open the show at Kathy & Kimy, with Ketamines, Hunters, the Nymphets, Absolutely Free and Pow Wows, as part of Pop Montreal. 44 Beaubien W., 9 p.m., $10

Local Euro-blues duo Chevalier Avant Garde launch their new record, Resurrection Machine, as part of Pop Montreal’s Fixture Records showcase. Read our interview with them here. Brasserie Beaubien (73 Beaubien E.), 9 p.m., $10

Vice Canada and Monster Energy present Greezy Steez 2, a sequel to last year’s party (with Juicy J and Joey Bada$$, if you remember that one). This year the headliner is none other than Atlanta rapper Killer Mike, supported by Toronto’s Tre Mission, with DJs Illo and Shaydakiss. Cabaret du Mile End (5240 Parc), 10 p.m., free with RSVP
