Care of Pop Montreal, piles of quality bands are playing free daytime shows at Divan Orange, and outdoors in Little Italy today through Saturday. The line-up at the latter is airtight today: BBQ & music by Born Gold, Miracle Fortress, Foxtrott and more. 4234 St-Laurent/Parc de la Petite-Italie (St-Laurent & St-Zotique), 12–6 p.m.

Remember le Swimming? Remember Balroom? As of tonight, 3643 St-Laurent has a new tenant, 3643 St. Laurent Apt. 200, thanks to the people behind SuWu. Tonight’s opening party promises DJs Axel Klein (5–10 p.m.) and Jay London (10 p.m.–3 a.m.) and arcade games. 3643 St-Laurent, 5 p.m.

Off the Hook is throwing a party to launch their new twice-yearly magazine, featuring the store’s seasonal lookbooks and more. 1021 Ste-Catherine W., 6–9 p.m., free

The Goethe Institut presents Lucian Busse’s Berlinized, a documentary about Berlin’s art/party scene after the wall fell in 1990. 1626 St-Laurent, #100, 7 p.m., $3 or free for Friends of Goethe

Film Pop screens a doc about a pre-punk punk band, A Band Called Death. PHI Centre (407 St-Pierre), 9 p.m., $8

Among the many many many shows to see at Pop Montreal tonight, Norwegian art-rocker Jenny Hval is a highlight. See her in a sacred setting, with Syngja and Sibian & Faun. Église St. John the Evangelist (Red Roof) (137 President-Kennedy), 9 p.m., $16

DJ/producer RYAN Playground joins Compton Chic and Pro-V for a free party at Blue Dog. 3958 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., free
