Montreal Comiccon hosts a free daytime opening party, featuring famous sci-fi cars Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1, Back to the Future’s DeLorean, plus meet n’ greets with selected genre film and video game stars. Place Émilie Gamelin (corner of Berri and Ste-Catherine), 11 a.m.–2 p.m., free

The vernissage for From Lines Into Abstraction welcomes work by a pantheon of graffiti artists to explore the relationship between street art and abstraction. Galerie Yves Laroche (6355 St-Laurent), 5–9 p.m., free

The Goethe Institut offers a screening of German film Dust on Our Hearts, about struggles with motherhood and success. 1626 St-Laurent, #100, 7 p.m., $3 or free for Friends of Goethe, in German with English subtitles

The World Improv Federation presents Improv Against Humanity. Volunteers from the audience play rounds of  Cards Against Humanity, the winning answers are then used for improvisational delights. The Wiggle Room (3874 St-Laurent), doors 7 p.m., $12

Drew Struzan is the man behind posters for well known trilogies including Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and Star Wars. Drew: The Man Behind the Poster highlights and explores the career of this artist and illustrator. PHI Centre (407 St-Pierre), 7:30 p.m., $11.25

DeAnne Smith and Al Lafrance revive their popular Let’s Do This! series, presented in collaboration with Bloody Underrated, with a timely school-themed edition. Mainline Theatre (3997 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $5
