The Spectacular Now

If you’re an artist looking for a place to doodle, work on your next comic/zine or just somewhere to chill out and chat about artistic endeavours, head over to Notre Dame des Quilles for the first NDQ Drink ‘n’ Draw. It’s a  weekly event where you can enjoy a cheap pint and flex your artistic muscles. 32 Beaubien E., 6–8 p.m., BYO supplies

Rockette Bar hosts Lundi Grindhouse. This week they’re screening Lucio Fulci’s Italian exploitation flicks Manhattan Baby (1982) and Aenigma (1987). 4479 St-Denis, 6:30 p.m., free

You can catch two different films for a discounted price at the PHI Centre tonight. Based on Tim Tharp’s book, The Spectacular Now follows the story of Sutter Keely a charming high school senior who falls in love with a “nice girl.” And Ryan Gosling stars in Only God Forgives about a man seeking vengeance for his murdered brother. 407 St-Pierre, 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., $6.25

Mile End venue Drones Club is having a fundraiser at la Sala Rossa, with live music by Homeshake, Hand Cream, Andy Boay, Gashrat, Kurvi Tasch and Baby Blue Brad Loughead, and a vegan bake sale. 4848 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $5–$10 PWYC

Arizona’s Destruction Unit headlines a night of heavy music, supported by local acts Thee Nodes and thisquietarmy. Turbo Haus (1180 St-Antoine W. #408), 9 p.m., $10

Head over to the Blue Dog Motel for There’s Something Funny Going On, tonight’s line-up includes Nour Hadidi and Mike Carrozza + headline Heidi Foss. It’s also co-producer Emma Wilkie’s birthday — so things are bound to get messy. 3958 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., PWYC
