Dazed and Confused

Otakuthon anime convention takes over the Palais de congrès. Check in to see the anime symposia, peruse a massive manga library and art exhibition and, of course, see attendees’ amazing cosplay costumes. 201 Viger W., 9 a.m.–6 p.m., day ticket $40

The annual Queer Between the Covers LGBTQ book sale and zine fair is today. Comité social Centre-Sud (1710 Beaudry), 12–6 p.m., free

Vinyl junkies should report to Bleury Vinyl Bar’s vinyl swap, where $10 gets you in the door with a beer, and $25 lets you sell LPs of your own. 2109 Bleury, 2–5 p.m.

The newly opened Vans store launches officially with an afternoon shindig featuring tunes by DJs Juan Love (aka legendary NorCal skateboarder John Cardiel) and Spoon-Bee (aka legendary Montreal skateboarder Barry Walsh) and art by Greg “Pnut” Galinsky, who’ll be customizing hats on-site. 1334 Ste-Catherine W., 2–5 p.m., free

Day two of the Reggae Festival in the Old Port features Shaggy, Beenie Man, Luciano, Yellowman, Morgan Heritage, Inword and many more artists repping roots, dancehall & other subgenres. 3 p.m., day ticket $60 on site

The annual Film POP bike-In screens Dazed and Confused for the cult classic’s 20th anniversary, raising funds for the Pop Montreal festival’s film programming. Don’t miss the vernissage for NY artist Cathy Bélanger’s exhibit, presented as part of the Festival d’art érotique. Galerie Dentaire (1239 Amherst), 5–8 p.m., free

The Omnivorious party takes over the ground floor of the SAT, serving up amuse-bouches from local and visiting chefs. SAT (1201 St-Laurent), 7 p.m., $50

Wrestling fans can prepare for SummerSlam 2013 with Freak Flicks Vol. IV: Invasion of the Body Slammers, an event that screens classic wrestling matches. Cinéma VA-114 (1395 René-Lévesque W.), 7 p.m., free
