Barbara ‘Basia’ Baranowska’s film poster for Willy Wonka

The Fantasia film festival presents Basha: Film Posters an exhibit of Barbara ‘Basia’ Baranowska’s film poster work. She is the unsung hero of Polish poster art, best known in North America for her work on Andrzej Zulawski’s Possession. The PHI Centre screens Carlos Reygadas’s Post Tenebras Lux (light after darkness), a semi-autobiographical film about a rural couple in Mexico, and an attempt at recreating Expressionist art on screen. 407 St-Pierre, 7:30 p.m., $11.25

What promises to be the city’s first annual Holla-Palooza hip hop festival happens at CFC tonight, starring local MCs Loe Pesci, CeasRock, Green Hypnotic, iLLvibe, Cee, Notion, Dr.MaD, M.O. and Mac Vybz. 6388 St-Hubert, 9 p.m.

For those seeking sonic heaviosity, your best bets are both local: the MEG fest presents synth-punks Duchess Says with Complications and Solids at la Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $20) and “sci-fi prog punk” act Panopticon Eyelids plays Brasserie Beaubien with the Pink Noise, the Hazelles and Steve Jr. (73 Beaubien E., 9 p.m., $7).
