Gilbert Hernandez launches his new book Marble Season at Librarie Drawn & Quarterly

Grandparents Zine meets the world with a launch and reading. The collaborative publication is edited by local artist Kerri Flanagan (creator of Nailbiter, winner of Expozine’s best English zine a few years back), who invites local authors to contribute, then illustrates their short stories. This round features readings by Sarah Pupo, Marty Fink and Cult MTL lit critic Jeff Miller as well as Flanagan. Dépanneur le Pick-Up (7032 Waverly), 7 p.m., free

The Deathwish Video, Deathwish Skateboards’ long-anticipated first full-length effort, has its Montreal premiere. Expect stunt-heavy skating and all manner of shitbaggery, as well as sets from Bearmace, Tommy Kruise and the Goat and the Occasional Others, a band comprised of well-known skate figures — read our interview with them here. If you’re uptown after 10, stop in at Notre Dame des Quilles for the debut of Jonah Campbell’s DJ night, Knife Slits Water.
