It’s Oscar day, folks, and if you’re down with celebrating everything Hollywood or are just looking to pull for the home team, Cinéma du Parc has got you covered. Ramp up to the red carpet with your choice of Academy Award nominated films playing throughout the day – The Invisible War (2:00 p.m.), 5 Broken Cameras (2:30 p.m.), The Master (3:45 p.m.), Rebelle (War Witch) (4:15 p.m.), The 2013 Academy Award Nominated Shorts (4:15 p.m.) – and finish up the evening with a live, free screening of the ceremony itself (7:00 p.m.) 3575 Parc

If vintage cinema is more your style, you’ll be happy to know that Le Cinéclub: The Film Society will be screening Oscar winning shorts from years past. VA-114 Cinéma, 1395 René-Lévesque W., 2:00 p.m., $8

It’s going to be a black metal kind of night at Club Soda. Marduk and Moonspell headline with guests Inquisition, The Foreshadowing and Death Wolf. 1225 St-Laurent, 7 p.m., $37

Montreal indie road movie Soft Gun has its local premiere at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois. For more info, check out our interview with co-directors Alexandra Bégin and Guilaume Collin. Cinémathèque québécoise (335 Maisonneuve E.), 7:30 p.m., $10
