ABC:MTL at the CCA: Aerial view of La Ronde amusement park and the Jacques-Cartier bridge, Montreal, QC

Read the Rant Line™!

The CCA continues to host events for the ongoing ABC:MTL exhibition, with a talk by curator John Zeppetelli and Nicholas Baier about the intersections between technology and artistic creation, followed by a sonic installation by Audiotopie and performance by sound artist Jean-Pierre Aubé. CCA (1920 Baile), talk at 5 p.m., Audiotopie performance 6 p.m., Jean-Pierre Aubé 7 p.m., all free

Local artist and band dude Raymond Biesinger is launching his latest book, Black and White Illustrations, a collection of monochrome images that range from DIY punk band flyers to clean, sharp magazine illustrations. Librairie Drawn & Quarterly (211 Bernard W.), 7 p.m., free

Absorb all the arts at once, as Maison Kasini hosts a simultaneous vernissage and book launch. The event ushers in the gallery’s latest exhibit, The Wildest Ponies on the Range, by Billy Mavreas and JP King, while also celebrating the publication of Alain Mercieca’s collection of short stories, The North Yorker. Maison Kasini (Belgo Building, 372 Ste-Catherine W., #408), 7-9 p.m., free

Take in a screening of Anders Rønnow Klarlund’s The Secret Society of Fine Arts, a commentary on art and terrorism through manipulated still images. PHI Centre (407 St-Pierre), 7:30, $13.25

Don your best stainables (aka white clothing) and head to Magie Blanche, where a roomful of costumed ghosts can catch a stellar lineup of bands, including Doldrums, Agor and Ramzi, as well as other surprise displays and performances. Cabaret Underworld (1403 Ste-Élisabeth), 9 p.m., $5

DeAnne Smith and friends want you to do this — as in, Let’s Do This! No. 3: Get Presents! After two previous sold-out installments, comedians Smith, Walter J. Lyng, Stephen Spinola and Nate Hartswick will step up to the stage to split your sides. And admission’s either $5 or a wrapped prezzie — not bad! MainLine Theatre (3997 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $5/wrapped prezzie

It’s a very Cult Christmas at On the Rocks tonight, with resident DJ Pat Dynamite joined by Cult’s DJ crew Amyl Nitrate, Eleijon and Fixyourbitrate, hosted by M for Mikey. Salon Officiel (351 Roy E.), 10 p.m., free

And don’t forget to check out our complete listings for more great club, stage and gallery events.
