Suspiria

Stock up on festive foods, as Julie Rondeau, the Preservation Society, Szef Bartek, Ora et Labora and Caution Wet Floor will be selling their homemade treats, including baked goods, preserves and a big, bad-ass slab of brisket meat by weight. La QV (29 Beaubien E.), 6 – 9 p.m.

Catch the classic giallo double-header of Suspiria and Inferno, which also happen to be the best films by director Dario Argento. Cagibi (5490 St-Laurent), 7 p.m., $2

Local minimal techno artist Akufen launches Dollhouse, a new three-song EP to mark the 20th anniversary of the Zupton design imprint and record label. Dollhouse will be played in its entirety at 8 and 10 p.m., with DJs $ylvio $tyle and Vincent Lemieux. Laïka (4040 St-Laurent), 7 p.m., free

It’s opening night for Urban Tales, Centaur Theatre’s (grown-ups only) storytelling session. Now in its 6th year, the event selects several pointedly not-festive stories, which are then recounted for the audience by seasoned performers. Centaur Theatre (453 St-François-Xavier), 8 p.m., $22

Get your fill of local pop-rock with the solid quadruple header of Sick Friend, Year of Glad, Fred Woods and Expwy. Quai des Brumes (4481 St-Denis), 9 p.m., $5

On the experimental improv side of the scene, Gens Chrétiens (Chris Burns, David Dugas Dion, Martin Hoëk, Alex Pelchat) launch their Distroboto mini-CD with guests Mendham (Nicolas Caloia, Isaiah Ceccarelli, Jason Sharp, Josh Zubot) and Charity Chan at Casa del popolo. 4873 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $5
