Party before country (or how to gaslight an entire nation)

The guy who says he’ll “put Canada first” still doesn’t have his security clearance.

Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives continue to gaslight Canadians, and they’re doing it with the support of Canada’s mainstream media.

Last month’s final report from the foreign interference inquiry clearly recommended that all federal party leaders obtain their security clearance, which Poilievre has chosen not to do.

The Conservative Party leader continues to ignore the large majority of Canadians — and 60% of Conservatives — who want him to seek security clearance and take foreign interference more seriously.

Our democracy is at stake.

A previous Canadian intelligence report confirmed that a Russian disinformation operation has been producing content with the purpose of “boosting support for Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre and undermining support for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.”

A potential future prime minister should want to have access to as much information as possible about foreign actors in Canada so he can help protect Canadians from foreign interference, not pretend it doesn’t exist.

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has stated on more than one occasion that Poilievre’s refusal to read the NSICOP report on foreign interference in Canada should disqualify him from becoming prime minister.

We tend to agree.
