Flood threat in Montreal: Over 100 mm of rain now possible Wednesday and Thursday

“The remnants of tropical storm Beryl will affect Southern Quebec beginning at around noon on Wednesday.”

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Montreal, with 40 to 80 mm of rain expected on Wednesday and Thursday, and a possibility of rainfall amounts exceeding 100 mm locally in thunderstorms. The Weather Network has also warned of a flood threat in Southern Quebec and Ontario.

“The remnants of tropical storm Beryl will affect Southern Quebec beginning at around noon on Wednesday. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and ponding on the roads. Consider changing any non-essential travel plans. Rush-hour traffic could be significantly impacted in urban areas.”
