quebec Pierre Poilievre François Legault trumpification

Legault spoke with Pierre Poilievre today about immigration, “decline of the French language”

Soul mates?

Quebec Premier François Legault met with Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre. According to Legault, he and Poilievre discussed immigration and “the decline of the French language,” as well as the energy sector.

Legault also indicated that he and Poilievre see eye to eye on Quebec benefitting from “its share of the federal government’s financial efforts in the energy sector” to remain competitive.

“Good meeting with the Leader of the Official Opposition in Ottawa, Pierre Poilievre. We discussed energy and ways to make the energy transition a success and accelerate projects —in particular projects in the energy sector. To succeed in these very competitive projects, it is important that Canada and Quebec work together. And we agreed that Quebec should benefit from its share of the federal government’s financial efforts in this strategic sector.

“I also raised immigration and French issues with the Conservative leader and he was open to helping Quebec halt and reverse the decline of the French language in Quebec.”
