Public transport in Montreal will be free for seniors over 65 starting July 2023

“A measure that allows seniors to participate fully in society and in the ecological transition.”

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante has announced that public transport will be free for seniors, specifically people aged 65 and over, as of July 2023.

Plante stated that free public transport would allow seniors to participate in Montreal’s green transition, while also helping them deal with increases in the cost of living.

“A measure that allows seniors to participate fully in life in society and in the ecological transition. And it’s a good way to fight inflation!”
