Justin Trudeau: “The death of Ayman al-Zawahiri is a step toward a safer world”

Joe Biden has confirmed that a U.S. drone strike killed the al-Qaeda leader.

Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau has issued a statement on the U.S. drone strike that killed al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, as announced by U.S. President Joe Biden last night.

“Justice has been delivered,” said Biden in a statement following the killing of the al-Qaeda leader, who had been “deeply involved in the planning of 9/11.”

Trudeau stated that the death of al-Zawahiri was a “step toward a safer world.” He confirmed that Canada would keep working with its foreign counterparts to maintain safety from terrorism internationally.

“The death of Ayman al-Zawahiri is a step toward a safer world. Canada will keep working with our global partners to counter terrorist threats, promote peace and security, and keep people here at home and around the world safe.”
