Valérie Plante: “I am outraged by the reversal of Roe v. Wade”

The Mayor of Montreal has responded to news about Americans losing their abortion rights.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante has commented on the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which ensures women’s abortion rights.

Half of U.S. states are expected to introduce restrictions or bans, cutting off roughly 36 million women of reproductive age from legal abortion services.

Plante called the reversal an “unacceptable setback,” stating the importance of widely denouncing the Supreme Court’s decision.

“I am outraged by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, and in solidarity with all American women who see the right to choose what they do with their own bodies being violated. This decision is an unacceptable setback. Let us denounce it forcefully and vigorously, here and everywhere.”
