Montreal metro Blue Line to be extended eastward with 5 new stops

The expansion will come with development that could include the building of 13,000 new homes.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante has just confirmed the extension of the Blue Line, which will include five new metro stations east of the current Saint-Michel terminus. The new stations, due to be completed by 2029, will be Pie-IX, Viau, Lacordaire, Langelier and Anjou.

Plante also confirmed that the $6.4-billion extension will come with development that could include the building of 13,000 new homes.

“For the Blue Line project to benefit the entire population, we will ensure that quality real estate and economic development takes place. Along the line of the extension, 13,000 new homes could be built.”

The Blue Line project is primarily being funded by the province, with $1.3-billion being contributed by the federal government.
