Valérie Plante: “The city of Montreal stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people”

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante has reacted to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, condemning the attacks and stating that the city stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

“Montreal condemns the Russian attack on Ukraine, in violation of the United Nations Charter. The city of Montreal stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, with whom we share a historic and deep relationship. My heart goes out to the innocent victims.”

This week, the Canadian government lent its support to Ukraine by sending 460 additional Armed Forces soldiers to Latvia in accordance with NATO’s Operation Reassurance, and imposing sanctions on Russia.
