Léger on Arruda resignation: “Sad but necessary”

“Being the Director of Public Health is a thankless job during such a long and unpredictable pandemic.”

Léger President Jean-Marc Léger released a statement regarding the resignation of Quebec Public Health Director Horacio Arruda earlier today.

Léger referred to the resignation of Horacio Arruda as “sad but necessary,” given the circumstances that Quebec finds itself in today. Hospitals across the province are nearly overwhelmed due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant over the past three weeks, with new daily case counts still topping 10,000 a week after the vast majority of Quebecers have become ineligible to get PCR tests and have positive results officially recorded.

Léger also referred to the job of public health director as “thankless” during a pandemic that’s been “unpredictable” for so long.
