Christian Dubé anti-vax tax appointments Quebec

First dose appointments in Quebec increased 40% following anti-vax tax announcement

Yesterday, François Legault announced that unvaccinated Quebecers will be subject to a “healthcare contribution.”

According to Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé, appointments for a first dose have increased once again following the announcement that unvaccinated Quebecers would be subject to an anti-vax tax, or “healthcare contribution,” if they don’t have a medical exemption. Last week, first dose appointments quadrupled following the announcement that the vaccine passport would be required at the SAQ and SQDC as of Jan. 18.

Dubé confirmed that roughly 5K appointments were taken on Jan. 10 and 7K on Jan. 11, corresponding to a total increase of 40%. Appointments were made across all age groups.

In all, 107K doses were administered in Quebec yesterday, with Dubé stating that it is “encouraging.”
