Ceremonies & statements on the 5th anniversary of the Quebec City mosque attack

Today is first annual National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia.

A vigil will be held at 5 p.m. at Parc metro in Montreal today and a ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. outside the Islamic Cultural Centre in Ste-Foy, a suburb of Quebec City, where six men were killed and 19 more injured five years ago today. Today is the first annual National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia to mark the anniversary of the tragic event.

The Montreal Canadiens issued a statement about today’s anniversary.

The victims who perished in the 2017 attack were Mamadou Tanou Barry, Ibrahima Barry, Khaled Belkacemi, Abdelkrim Hassane, Azzeddine Soufiane and Aboubaker Thabti.
