Canada end oil and natural gas subsidies per-capita carbon emissions

Canada has the second highest per-capita carbon emissions in the world

Higher than China, the U.S. and Russia.

Visual Capitalist has compiled a list of countries by per-capita carbon emissions, and Canada has the second highest on the list, at 15.2 tonnes per year.

Canada’s per-capita carbon emissions are higher than those of United States (14.4), China (7.1) and Russia (11.4). The world’s highest emitters of per-capita carbon emissions is the Middle East (Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates).

“Oil-producing countries in the Middle East are the highest emitters of CO2 on a per capita basis, but developed countries like the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, and Canada also have some of the higher rates of per-capita carbon emissions.”
