10 bonkers signs from the latest Montreal protest against public health measures

From government bogeymen to conspiracy theories to dubious appropriation of symbols, protesters wore their hearts on their signs.

Hundreds of demonstrators with an array of striking signs took to the streets of Montreal on Saturday to protest Quebec public health measures, which have ramped up considerably in recent weeks due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant and record-high hospitalizations in the province.

Pictured on the protest signs at the event were the many grievances and federal and provincial government bogeyman singled out by the “freedom” movement that has emerged during the pandemic, in Montreal and arround the world. Protesters also appropriated and parodied a wide range of symbols, from the “ça va bien aller” rainbow to swastikas and stars of David. Reporter Thomas Quinn captured some of them.
