Canadians fatigued depressed Angus Reid survey

1 in 4 Canadians say they’re “depressed”; half are “fatigued”

Just 12% of Canadians describe their state of mind as “happy.”

A new Angus Reid Institute study asked Canadians how they’ve been feeling over the past few weeks, and the results show that 1 in 4 (23%) feel “depressed,” while the top word that Canadians use to describe their state of mind is “fatigued” (48%).

“The arrival of Omicron was a significant blow to Canadians’ mental health. Not only did its spread coincide with the holiday season forcing many to re-evaluate holiday plans to factor in the infectious variant, it also extended the timeline of the pandemic, making many wonder when the end will be.”

According to the results, women under 55 are the most likely group to say they’ve been feeling fatigued and anxious. Men under 35 are also feeling anxiety more than those in older age groups.

“Men over 55 (27%) are the most likely of any demographic to say they’ve been feeling normal and also more than twice as likely (16%) as any other group to say they’ve been untroubled.”
