Montreal public health warns against “last chance” parties as new restrictions start at midnight

“Let’s face it, now is not the time to celebrate.”

Montreal Public Health Director Dr. Mylène Drouin has released a statement warning Montrealers against holding and attending “last chance” parties, as new restrictions come into effect at midnight.

Dr. Drouin released the statement, confirming that now is not the time to celebrate. The province saw 3,846 new cases of COVID-19 today, and 59 new hospitalizations.

“‘Last chance’ parties, let’s face it, they’re a bad idea. The situation is worrying. Now is not the time to celebrate.”

Starting at midnight tonight, capacity limits at retail stores, bars, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and churches will be reduced to 50%, and gatherings will be limited to 10 people from three different households. Dancing at bars, nightclubs and concert venues is also prohibited, as well as karaoke. People must remain seated at these venues at all times.
