Montreal bars PrimeTime and Frappé went up in flames, arson suspected

Police found accelerant at the site of fires on Parc and St-Laurent, which occurred within 90 minutes of each other on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to two Montreal bars 90 minutes apart in the early hours of Tuesday morning, first Frappé on St-Laurent Boulevard at 2:30 a.m., then PrimeTime on Parc Avenue at 4 a.m. CTV is reporting that Montreal police suspect arson as traces of accelerant were found at the site of both fires.

PrimeTime is a total loss — see the video below. Frappé has fire and water damage but may be salvageable. “The damage is significant” in both cases, according to SPVM spokesperson Julien Lévesque.

Montrealers have been sharing fond memories of PrimeTime, a longstanding Mile End go-to for Habs games, pool and free popcorn, on social media since news of the fire broke yesterday.

PrimeTime was one of several establishments targeted in a series of Molotov cocktail attacks back in 2012. The bar was reportedly renovated significantly just two years ago.
