Projet Montréal on Denis Coderre team’s “demagoguery and lack of vision”

“The campaign hasn’t even started yet and how many times have Ensemble Montréal had to retract and change their mind after having affirmed a position with certainty?”

Various members of Projet Montréal have called out Denis Coderre and his team for backpedaling following the announcement of an unpopular plan to replace the bicycle lane on Bellechasse Street with parking spaces, if elected. According to Mathieu Prost from Radio-Canada, Ensemble Montréal has adjusted their position to allow a reduced bicycle lane on each side of Bellechasse to allow parking on the eastern portion of the REV.

Projet Montréal councillor for St-Édouard-Rosemont—La Petite Patrie François Limoges released a statement criticizing Ensemble Montréal for having to backtrack on their plan, calling Coderre out on “improvisation, demagoguery and lack of vision.”

“Contrary to what is written, it is not a ‘precision.’ It’s a step back after realizing that yesterday’s announcement was ultimately unpopular. We see all the usual trademarks of the Denis Coderre team: improvisation, demagoguery, lack of vision.”

Projet Montréal councillor for De Lorimier—Plateau-Mont-Royal Marianne Giguère also commented, criticizing Denis Coderre and Ensemble Montréal for having to backpedal on their announcement that was not well planned.

“The campaign hasn’t even started yet and how many times have Ensemble Montréal had to retract and change their mind after having affirmed a position with certainty and vehemence?”
