The Polaris Prize Long List showcases the best Canadian albums of the year

Charlotte Cardin, Cadence Weapon and Russell Louder are among the nominees.

The Polaris Music Prize has announced its annual Long List, a list of albums under consideration for the 2021 Polaris Music Prize. 204 albums released between May 1, 2020 and May 31, 2021 were considered for the Long List by a jury of 199 Canadian music journalists and critics.

There are a number of Montreal artists on the list, including Charlotte Cardin, CFCF, Helena Deland, Russell Louder, Klô Pelgag, the Besnard Lakes, TEKE::TEKE and Thanya Iyer.

The 2021 Polaris Long List

The 10-album Short List will be revealed on July 15, while the $50,000 prize will be awarded in the fall — details (including whether or not there will be a gala this year) are to be determined.
