Canadians are divided on the issue of Quebec bashing: poll

Last week, Justin Trudeau called for an end to “Quebec bashing.”

A new study by Leger Marketing has examined the issue of Quebec bashing, and how it is being perceived by the rest of Canada. Last week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called for an end to excessive criticism of Quebec, saying, “Enough with Quebec bashing.” This followed last week’s comments from University of Ottawa professor Amir Attaran, who said that Quebec is led by “a white supremacist government” that is tolerant of systemic racism.

According to the survey, the same percentage of Canadians (39%) find the criticisms and attacks against Quebec to be an important issue as an unimportant one.

Naturally, the province that viewed the issue as most important was Quebec itself (61%). Conversely, British Columbia was the province with the least interest in the issue, at 23%.
