Station 16 Gallery is holding a fifth Anniversary Party, complete with live music, wine and gift giveaways. 3523 St-Laurent, 6 p.m.–9 p.m., free

Presented in collaboration with RIDM, MURAL Fest will be holding an outdoor screening of Obey Giant, a film about the underworld of street art, skateboarding and punk rock through the eyes of artist Shepard Fairey. Portugal Park (3527 St-Laurent), 9 p.m.–11 p.m., free

Cineplex Events presents a never-before-seen 90-minute cut of a classic Doctor Who episode on the big screen — 1975’s “Genesis of the Daleks” (starring Tom Baker) is a cornerstone of the long-running series. At Quartier Latin, Forum and Cavendish cinemas, 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

The first-ever edition of the Montreal Dominican Film Festival kicks off with La familia Reyna. the festival runs through Sunday. Cinéma du Parc (3575 Parc), various times, $12.50

You can’t get much more Suoni than this Suoni per il Popolo show: the solo project of Efrim Manuel Menuck (co-founder of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mt. Zion and the Hotel2Tango recording studio) sharing a bill with Jessica Moss, a fellow co-founder of A Silver Mt. Zion (as well as Black Ox Orkestar) and a violinist/composer whose solo work has been widely acclaimed (by our columnist Johnson Cummins among many others). Accompanying Moss will be experimental filmmaker Charles-André Coderre, known for his visual contribution to Jerusalem in My Heart. Casa del Popolo (4873 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $12/$15

As an afterparty for a Red Bull-branded MURAL art event, local DJs Lexis, Kris Guilty, Gene Tellem and DJ Name will play the afterparty. Mural Art Pub (3523-A St-Laurent), 11 p.m., free
