Local brand Pony has teamed up with Aldo and Hennessy for a Mural takeover to kick off the second weekend of the outdoor festival. There will be live music from locals Rrkelly and Nate Husser on site. 3527 St-Laurent, 5 p.m., $11

This month’s edition of the MAC’s seasonal Nocturnes soirées offers party people a chance to check out the Rafael Lozano-Hemmer exhibition and enjoy the selections of DJs Foxtrott, CFCF and Priori. 185 Ste-Catherine E., 5 p.m., $19

The first day of Montreal’s Folk Fest on the Lachine Canal — which continues through Sunday on three outdoor stages (and one afterparty bar location) — promises performances by Josh Ritter, Jason Bajada and Catherine Leduc. St-Patrick & Pitt, 5:30 p.m., PWYC

As part of Suoni per il Popolo (and co-hosted by film/art fest Massimadi), Elle Barbara and Twysted Miyake-Mugler host Chemistry! A Vogue Ball, featuring dance, beauty and fashion prizes (some of them science-themed), live music by DJ Vjuan Allure and special performances by Chivengi and James Baley. Montreal’s top bilingual hip hop collective Dead Obies play a free outdoor show as part of les FrancoFolies. Scène Bell (Jeanne-Mance & Ste-Catherine), 9 p.m., free
