From Creatures

Pass by the MainLine Gallery this evening for the launch party of this year’s Fringe program and say hello to some of the artists who will be gracing the city’s stages during this year’s edition of the independent theatre and performing arts festival. 3905 St-Laurent, 7–11 p.m., free

For five nights only beginning this evening, the SAT presents the immersive audiovisual experience Creatures, created by graphic artist Vincent Houzé and 3D art studio Dave & Gabe to take the viewer on a journey through colourful semi-abstract ecosystems. 1201 St-Laurent, 7 p.m., $24.75/$20.25 students, continues through Saturday

Joni Void’s event series Everyday Ago hosts an improvisational dance and performance night called theWAVEjams at Le Livart featuring music from Void plus Errhead (Doldrums), Kazuki Koga and Line Katcho. 3980 St-Denis, 8 p.m., free

While both the Jorja Smith and Men I Trust shows tonight are sold out, here are a couple of shows worth your hard-earned coin:

Take in the dreamy slowcore-inspired sound of NYC’s Loma, playing l’Escogriffe with opener Jess Williamson (4461 St-Denis, 8:30 p.m., $12/$15); meanwhile, hip hop heads ought to hit up Théâtre Fairmount, where Seattle producer/DJ Sango will be playing with Lou Phelps, Kaelin Ellis and Marr Grey (5240 Parc, 9 p.m., $15/$25, all ages)
