From Robin Cerutti’s Mirrors

Montreal-based photographer Robin Cerutti hosts a vernissage at Galerie MX for his innovative series of water-themed portraits that show individuals from a unique and surreal perspective juxtaposing heightened clarity against soft refraction. 333 Viger W., 5–8 p.m., free

Those of you who attended Phi Centre’s Nuit Blanche party got a good look at (and perhaps a feel for) Atelier New Regime’s multidisciplinary art installation “Trapped,” the centrepiece of which is a case of $20 bills inside a box with a round hole in the side; a camera sits nearby capturing participants’ fruitless attempts to grab and extract the cash. Tonight two members of the art crew will engage in a (French) discussion with Aye Mag’s Josiane Ménard titled Deconstructing the Notion of Success. 407 St-Pierre, 7 p.m., free, reservation mandatory

Get immersed in the contemporary dance performance Liminality in the SAT’s 360-degree dome known as the Satosphère. The 45-minute show combines, dance, film and music, contrasting the landscapes of Wales and India, and runs through the end of the month, Tuesdays to Saturdays. 1201 St-Laurent, 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, $27.25

Check out a screening of Terry Gilliam’s 1995 classic dystopian sci-fi film 12 Monkeys, starring Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt and Madeleine Stowe. The film will be screened in English with French subtitles. Bar le Ritz PDB (179 Jean-Talon W.), 8 p.m., $5

NDQ’s monthly variety show Stand Back returns with hosts Nancy Webb and Travis Cannon to showcase the inclusive and patriarchy-free talents of established and up-and-coming live performers from the local scene including Ben Sosa Wright, Evangelia Alexopoulos, Jacob Greco, Dorian Mitchell and Tranna Wintour. 32 Beaubien E., 8 p.m., $5/PWYC
