REVIEW: Kendrick Lamar’s Black Panther: The Album, Music From and Inspired By

All hail King Kendrick.

Kendrick Lamar, Black Panther: The Album, Music From and Inspired By (Interscope)

All hail King Kendrick. Alongside the film’s director Ryan Coogler and TDE head honcho Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, the rap royalty carefully curates the vibes to set the mood for one of Marvel’s most ambitious films to date. The inclusion of artists on the rise from both California and South Africa demonstrates Lamar once again using his platform for a greater good. What could have easily been a phoned-in effort turns out to be a thoughtful compilation with an all-star cast (SZA, Future, Travis Scott etc), not to mention a worthy companion piece for what is sure to be one of the year’s biggest blockbusters.
