In advance of Valentine’s Day, the restaurants and cafés of the southwest neighbourhoods of St-Henri, Little Burgundy and Griffintown are spreading the love this weekend with a special promotion — share your love story on Instagram or Facebook while at one of the participating venues and tag the resto with the hashtags #uncafemonamour and #quartierducanal to get a free coffee, plus a chance to win a dinner for two at a neighbourhood restaurant. Check out the full details here. Various locations and opening hours, free entry

Get ready to be amazed by high flying acrobatics, live music and immersive staging at today’s performance of Afrique en Cirque by Québécois/Guinean circus school and performance company Kalabanté, appearing for just one show at Olympia as part of Black History Month. 1004 Ste-Catherine E., 3 p.m., $37.37–$56.92

Find out why Saint John, New Brunswick’s Little You Little Me are being called one of the best bands in the Maritimes for their blistering live set when they tear the roof off of l’Esco at today’s Sunday Pasta Party, which will also feature punk rock trio Rose Bush and a heaping plate of spaghet. 4461 St-Denis, 5–8 p.m., $12

Montreal’s Film Society hosts a screening of Lucio Fulci’s 1977 film The Psychic, which is more on the spooky end of the giallo spectrum than the gory horror the genre is better known for. The feature will be preceded by a rare collection of 35mm horror trailers and a rare short, plus guest speaker Mario De Giglio-Bellemare, a teacher and monster specialist. Cinema VA-114 (1395 René-Levesque W.), 6:30–9:30 p.m., $8/$6 students & seniors

Tonight’s program of electronic, experimental and noise improv acts at la Vitrola promises “sonic destruction,” so pack some earplugs and an open mind. 4602 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $5
