Mini-Comiccon 2015

Tonight’s Kaytranada show at Olympia is sold out, but there’s a lot going on around town tonight, so — if you don’t have tickets — hopefully you’ll find some consolation below (or in our more complete Event Listings section).

The Etsy Montreal Holiday Market is rolling out this weekend, filling Maison de la Culture Maisonneuve with 70 vendors and thousands of holiday shoppers. For information about other holiday markets happening this weekend and throughout December, check out our round-up here. 4200 Ontario E., 10 a.m.–6 p.m. today, 10 a.m.–5 a.m. tomorrow

Get ready for a cornucopia of cosplay and mad holiday shopping at Mini-Comiccon, the December edition of the annual gathering of fans (and collectors) of comics and sci-fi, fantasy and horror merchandise. The third annual Mini-Comiccon (which is all about the shopping and cosplay, as opposed to panels and celebrity guests) has expanded to a two-day affair. Palais des Congrès (1001 Place Jean-Paul Riopelle), 12–6 p.m., 11 a.m.–5 p.m., free entry

Singer-songwriters come to centre stage at the Corona Theatre, where the third annual Christmas party hosted and headlined by pop legend Andy Kim is going down tonight. Joining Kim will be the Dears’ Murray Lightburn, Roch Voisine, Ron Sexsmith, Hey Rosetta’s Tim Baker, Whitehorse, Bobby Bazini and Ima. 2490 Notre-Dame W., 8 p.m., $27

Take in multiple tones of tantalizing synth-pop at le Ritz, where Toronto’s Diana is playing with local openers Mozart’s Sister and Blue Hawaii’s AGOR. 179 Jean-Talon W., 9:30 p.m., $11.50

Blizzarts hosts a Xmas party edition of LGBT party Glitch, with DJs Danica and Panda. 3956A St-Laurent, 10 p.m., free first hour/$4 after 11 p.m.

Local music website Bolting Bits co-hosts an all-night dance party with nascent record label Model Future (launching in 2017), with music by some serious talents: performing live are Dinamo Azari (of Azari & III, cofounder of Model Future) with James Ken Bailey and Twysted Mugler as well as 247esp (the latest project by Vaughn Robert Squire of Prison Garde, Megasoid and Sixtoo fame) with DJ sets by Iron Galaxy and OJPB/Bowly. The Hive (secret location), 11 p.m.–7 a.m., $16.90 (online purchases still available)
