Gamers, wizards, programmers, superheroes and other proud geeks should make their way to Collège Maisonneuve this year’s edition of Geekfest Montreal, featuring performances, workshops, panel discussions, demonstrations, game tournaments, film screenings and lots more. 3800 Sherbrooke E., 9 a.m.–11 p.m., $30 for day pass or $40 for weekend pass, continues through Sunday

Embrace your inner cat lover at this weekend’s Salon des Artistochats at Centre Pierre-Charbonneau, with dozens of exhibitors and vendors selling locally produced treats for you and your cat, including clothing, accessories, illustrations and jewellery. 3000 Viau, 10–5 p.m., free, continues through Sunday

Underground music and arts collective Bad Lunch hosts a day-long Femme Fest in support of the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal featuring a panel discussion on women in music hosted by Amy MacDonald and Zaya Solange, an exhibition of artwork by Kelly Derstenfeld and a solid line-up of performances by artists including Strange Froots, Thanya Iyer, Corrina Rose, Tamara Sandor, Merival and Brooklyn Doran.
