Three-day electronic music fest Ancient Future begins today, with an international crew of producer/DJs — namely Tokimonsta, Joachim Pastor, Thomas White, Ryan Playground, Debbie Doe, Rue de Bois,  Randomer, Van Did, N’To and Worakls turning the Old Port’s Quai d’Horloge into a dancefloor. OUMF, the outdoor music festival next door to UQAM, gets serious tonight with sets by the one and only DJ Jazzy Jeff, along with locals CeasRock & Big Jo la Légende, Skratch Bastid, Brown, Husser and Bad Nylon, plus the Word Up! Battles crew. St-Denis & de Maisonneuve, 7:30 p.m., free

New performance association Creature / Creature (with creative director Johanna Nutter at the helm) throws a launch party tonight at Divan Orange with a variety of performances on the bill, from poetry to dance, headlined by the rockabilly-flavoured country/folk singer-songwriter Petunia. 4234 St-Laurent, 8 p.m., $15

Montreal sketch-comedy monthly the Sketch Republic celebrates one year of laughs with a special anniversary show tonight at Théâtre Sainte Catherine featuring Philly-based troupe The Incredible Shrinking Matt and Jacquie plus locals Hot Raw Fire, Big Mall and Small Town Mayor, with host DJ Mausner. 264 Ste-Catherine E., 8 p.m., $8/$6 students

Reverb-y slow-rock Chicago two-piece Earring plays Casa del Popolo with openers Frigs (TO) and locals Heathers. 4873 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $10/$8 in advance

Two local bands are launching records today: new wave pop band Boy Friends, with Stargazer Lillies, the City Gates and Year of Glad (la Vitrola, 4602 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $10) and garage punks the Rejecters, with Teen Seizure and Disposer (Brasserie Beaubien, 73 Beaubien E., 10 p.m., $5).
