Technoshamanism at Burning Man 2014

In a continuing series of events leading up to the upcoming Nufonia Must Fall show at Place des Arts next month, Kid Koala will be DJing (and prepping food) at Old Montreal restaurant le Bremner, where chef Danny Smiles will be cooking up a special concoction inspired by Nufonia. 361 St-Paul E., 2–5 p.m.

Mark the 2,095th anniversary of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius (which occurred on Aug. 24, 79 B.C.) by taking in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ impressive Pompeii exhibition — now in its final weeks (it ends Sept. 5) — for half-price tonight in a special aperitivo atmosphere featuring bar service and free gelato samples. 1380 Sherbrooke W., 5–9 p.m., $10

The Montreal Impact plays D.C. United tonight, hoping to recover from a losing streak to make the playoffs — see our photo-packed report on the winning soccer atmosphere (even when the team loses) at a recent Impact game here. Saputo Stadium (‎4750 Sherbrooke E.), 7:30 p.m., $29-$89

As part of Cinémathèque québécoise’s History of Eroticism program, online film revue Hors Champ curates an experimental film program of local and international short films of a naughty nature, with selections dating from the 1990’s to today. 355 de Maisonneuve E., 9 p.m., $10/$9 students

Baltimore electric-piano improviser Liz Durette plays Divan Orange with locals le Pélican Noir (see their new music video here), Ylang Ylang and Johnny Couteau. 4234 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $10

Party different at Technoshamans v3, a dance party promising a pretty unique experience, with music with Italian dark-minimal-techno artist J. Sintax, who’ll be playing a two-hour live set. See more event details here — you may want to bring mushrooms to this one. 1400 Montcalm, 10 p.m., $5 before 11 p.m./$7
