PHOTOS: Under Pressure graffiti convention

See some fresh murals applied to downtown Montreal walls during the 21st annual international graffiti convention.

The 21st annual international graffiti convention and celebration of hip hop culture — Under Pressure —took place last week in Montreal, beginning with panels and conferences on Aug. 10. (This year’s edition, in collaboration with Montreal’s hosting of the social justice-oriented World Social Forum, had a special focus on giving a platform to Indigenous artists.)

On the weekend, Under Pressure’s outdoor programming began, with live graffiti art, live music, DJs and dance battles happening on and around Ste-Catherine Street East between Berger and Ste-Elisabeth. Saturday was rainy but the crowds came out in droves to see the murals and dancers, and to catch the closing party at Foufounes.
