To Have and Have Not

If you haven’t checked out Montréal Complètement Cirque’s nightly free circus performances in Jardins Gamelin yet, maybe today’s the day! The show, Fracas, features some pretty incredible acrobatics on the park’s large staging, plus the performers spread out throughout the park so everyone gets a front row seat. Corner Ste-Catherine & Berri, 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., free, continues nightly to July 17

Mile End restaurant Hôtel Herman celebrates their fourth anniversary with a special party, showcasing their signature cocktails plus a special menu — in collaboration with Toronto’s Bar Fancy — featuring fried chicken, jerk wings, tomato salad and more. 5171 St-Laurent, 7 p.m.–3 a.m., free entry

Film noir au canal presents its first screening of 2016, Howard Hawks’ 1944 classic To Have and Have Not, starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in their first film together. Note that this was rescheduled from Sunday due to rain. St-Patrick & Wellington, 8:45 p.m., free

Claire Denis’s critically acclaimed 1999 film Beau Travail, based on a novella by Herman Melville and an opera by Benjamin Britten, screens in 35mm at le Ritz, with English subtitles. The venue is charging a little more than usual for this screening to cover the cost of the print and projector. 179 Jean-Talon, 9 p.m., $10

Nu-R&B artist BJ the Chicago Kid brings his In My Mind tour to le Belmont, with like-minded Atlanta artist Elhae opening. 4483 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $20/$25
