Montreal Comiccon returns to Palais des Congrès for three days of nerd ecstasy, featuring comics companies and creators exhibiting their stuff, celebrities from the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy and cult film and TV (including a large Star Trek contingent) and related activities including gaming, conferences, panels and loads of cosplay — look for our daily photo galleries at cultmontreal.com. Get physical today at the Marché des Possibles in Mile End with some free “tandem in the park” training by l’Ecurie (noon) and free your mind with a meditation session (12:30 p.m.). The evening programming (6–11 p.m.) features live music by Daily Alice, Swift Years, Down by Riverside and Dany Laj and the Looks, as well as an illustrated history of Mile End. Today at the Jazz Fest, local reggae artist Face-T (8 p.m.) and local rapper Wasiu (10 p.m.) play the Turkish Airlines/CBC stage, while the Wainwright Sisters (Martha and Lucy) play their dark lullabies at Théâtre du Nouveau Monde and local folk/pop artist Neema plays l’Astral.
