Automelodi and Xarah Dion

Tonight at Just for Laughs, Montreal talent is under the spotlight: the Brunch Club presents A Stand-Up Guide to Montreal, Carin and Sandiford present the festival edition of their Ladies and Gentlemen Comedy show and Ali Hassan and Derek Seguin play solo shows. See our two-part guide to local comics at the festival here.

Head to July Pop-up gallery and shop Camp for a vernissage and zine launch for Simon Fortin’s Dear Diary comic featuring Fortin’s signature Burbles creatures. Fortin will offer a special performance. Bonuses: food and drink treats, music from Min/Max and DJ sets from Phil Sparkz and Odile M. 4334 St-Denis, 5–9 p.m., free

The 100-year old Théâtre Paradoxe is home to tonight’s multidisciplinary art party MTL Uncovered, featuring an exhibition of works from over 25 local artists, a tasty menu from CHMPGN+CIE chef Mark Bermudez and live music from Bayla, Taylor McCluskey and more. 5959 Monk, 6 p.m., $15 or $20–$28 includes meal

Visiting East Coast melodic post-punkers Laps headline a show at Poisson Noir with local openers Yao Guai Cave and Mono. Secret location, 9 p.m., price unlisted

For those who like it synthey, la Vitrola is the place to be to see three great local acts launch records: Automelodi and Xarah Dion mark the release of a split record, VM10, and opener Low Factor has a new piece of wax, too. 4602 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $10

Oh Hi affiliate Loon (solo project of Bantam Wing’s Tessa Kautzman) is also launching a new EP, Threads, with a show at la Plante that doubles as the launch for Alexia Avina’s summer tour on a bill rounded out by MagicPerm. Secret location, 9:30 p.m., $10/PWYC
