The Holy Mountain

If you’ve never seen Alejandro Jodorowsky’s face-melting surrealist bad trip The Holy Mountain (1973), tonight is an excellent opportunity as local musicians are playing along with it in a ciné-concert presented by the Suoni per il Popolo festival. Leading the band is Will Eizlini, and its players include Sarah Pagé, Sam Shalabi, Marie-Douce St-Jacques, Elizabeth Anka Vajagic. For a taste of how insane this film is, watch the trailer here. La Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent), 8:30 p.m., $10/$12

Also part of Suoni, Jeunesse Cosmique pays tribute to experimental jazz legend Sun Ra, presenting the bands Space Is (Always) the Place, Space Clouds Filter, les Orcs de Cristal, Paraphonique and Crépusucule Solaire, with an ambient score by Kris Guilty and visuals to evoke Sun Ra’s cosmic philosophy. La Vitrola (4602 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $5/PWYC

Film screenings at Bar le Ritz PDB continue with David Lynch’s 1990 classic Wild at Heart, starring Laura Dern and (in his brief cool days) Nicolas Cage, as well as Harry Dean Stanton, Diane Ladd, Willem Dafoe and a bunch of Lynch’s eccentric regulars. See the trailer here. 179 Jean-Talon W., 9 p.m., free/PWYC

The Ladies & Gentlemen Comedy Show, the Tuesday night weekly at Shäika Café from Daniel Carin and Chris Sandiford, celebrates three years of laughs with a special performance featuring sets from Darren Henwood, Jacob Greco, Shawn Stenhouse, Scott Andrew Carter, Bianca Yates, Kevin Shustack, Tranna Wintour, Steve Patrick Adams and Brad MacDonald. 5526 Sherbrooke W., 9 p.m., free

Tonight’s edition of Vinyl Love, Le Bleury Bar à Vinyle’s all-vinyl dance night features DJ sets from Mat Coates, DJ Huile, Max Daigle, J Totes and Le Laitier, plus drink specials all night long. 2109 de Bleury, 9 p.m., free
