High Rise

If you haven’t seen director Ben Wheatley’s new film High-Rise, a J.G. Ballard adaptation starring Tom Hiddleston, we can assure you that it’s a one-of-a-kind twisted cinematic treat. It’s the second night in the FTA festival’s three-night run of Multiform(s), a show by Toronto dancer and choreographer Amanda Acorn. The hour-long piece features five dancers (including Acorn herself) paying homage to the work of painter Mark Rothko. Espace Libre (1945 Fullum), 9 p.m., $25/$30

Longtime Algonquin folk-rock musician Willy Mitchell plays Casa del Popolo tonight as part of the Suoni per il Popolo festival — it’s Suoni’s second and final show as part of their showcase of artists featured on Light in the Attic’s Native North America compilation (more about Mitchell and that comp here). He plays with the Beatrice Deer Band and Sipreano, following a screening of Mort Ransen’s short film You Are on Indian Land. 4873 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $12/$15
