Four Montreal designers working in different fields have united to hold La Grand Messe, a weekend pop-up shop at Mile End’s Espace POP. Come by and browse their textiles, jewellery, stained glass and more, and fuel up on complimentary lemonade and chocolate. 5587 Parc, 11 a.m.6 p.m.

We’ve seen a lot of women in the desert on the big screen lately, and the Film Society has gone into the vaults to find Woman in the Dunes, a 1964 Japanese film directed by Hiroshi Teshigahara screening today. Cinema VA-114 (1395 René-Levesque W.), 6:30 p.m., $8/$6 for students

The Body of Evidence is a science podcast with a comedic twist, but tonight the doctor and scientist behind it bring the schtick to the stage at Katacombes. Expect a comedy quiz show about celebrity health fads, featuring comics David Pryde, Bianca Yates and Darren Henwood, followed by a bit of fantasy time travel to explore the connection between cancer and Gerard Butler (?). 1635 St-Laurent, 7 p.m., $5

Shut Up N Dance Battle presents The Chosen III, an all-styles dance battle to live music, vocalists, beat-boxing and spoken word by the Kalmunity Vibe Collective, Jai Nitai Lotus, X-Wam and DJ Shash’U. Dancers are invited to register at 6 p.m. (for a $17 fee) and enter the preliminary round at 7 p.m. Théâtre Fairmount (5240 Parc), show at 8 p.m., $15

From the land of Disney, soulful indie pop duo Sales have emerged with a pretty sweet debut LP this month, and tonight they play Montreal with locals the Commander Clark Group and Sweat. Bar le Ritz PDB (179 Jean-Talon W.), 8 p.m., $13/$15
