REVIEW: Yung Lean’s “Warlord”

The second studio album by the Swedish rapper.

Yung Lean, Warlord (Year0001)

On the rapping front, the Swedish teen has improved but not to the extent where his awkward flow isn’t immediately recognizable. That’s a good thing, actually, because there isn’t much fun in trying to be a conventional rapper when you’re a hip hop outlier. Like any Swedish release, Warlord’s key playmakers are the producers: The majority of the beats from Yung Gud and Yung Sherman match up with The Life of Pablo pound-for-pound.
