If you’re still off school and/or work but want to get active after the holidays, there is one winter sport you can do indoors on a cold day like this: skating. Find your borough and the free skating hours at its arena(s) here.

Cinéma du Parc launches the final week of their monthlong retrospective of films by Alfred Hitchcock with a documentary screening of Hitchcock/Truffaut, a look at the director’s groundbreaking techniques through the eyes of an early fan, the late French new-wave director and film critic François Truffaut, punctuated with appearances by contemporary directors like Wes Anderson, David Fincher and Martin Scorsese. 3575 Parc, 4:30 p.m., $12.50/$11 under 25

The Wiggle Room hosts a free open house for the Arabesque Burlesque dance course, with teachers that fans of Montreal burlesque will surely recognize: Lady Josephine, Ruby Outevsky, Jessica Rae and BonBon Bombay, demonstrating showgirl fitness, ballroom’s bedroom elegance, bump n’ grind, cabaret routines, burlesque history, theory of the tease and flapper two-steps. 3874 St-Laurent, 7–9 p.m., free

If hip hop street dancing is more your style, check out a free sample class in popping, b-boying, dancehall and more at Urban Element Zone, whose 2016 sessions begin this week. Tonight’s schedule includes a free b-boy class for adults at levels one and two. 7347 St-Hubert, 8:15 p.m., free trial class
